Perfectos Take The Ship

Perfectos got off to a slow start with their bats on Saturday with Axton Eisenbeis (Poplar Bluff, 2022) on the mound. The first game pool play ended in a 4-4 tie against Adidas Athletics (Navy) in the Gametime Tournaments Summer Bash this past weekend.

Game two of pool play was a different story as the team kicked into gear and began pushing runners across the plate winning 11-3 in 3 innings against the same Adidas Athletics team from game 1. Kade Lindgren (Meadow Heights, 2022) started the game on the bump with Dalton Gatewood (Poplar Bluff, 2022) getting the win.

The 1-0-1 record gave the Perfectos the #2 seed in the 5-team tournament.

In semifinals on Sunday, Jorden Eaton (Clearwater, 2021, State Fair College committed) had a rough start giving up 3 runs in the first inning but then shutdown 17 of the next 19 batters.

Perfectos got on the board when Preston VanDyke (Kennett, 2023) drove in a run on a ground ball between first and second for an RBI 4-3 out. VanDyke's next AB was a single to left center which drove in a run and put the tying runner on 3rd. A catcher's errant throw to 3rd gave the Perfectos all they needed for Levi Poulette (Thayer, 2021, Missouri Valley College committed) to score.

With the score tied at end of regulation, two additional innings were played before Cainan Heck (Alton, 2021) drove in Jaden Anderson (Liberty, 2023) for the walkoff.

The championship game matched up the Perfectos against first seed St Louis Bears who had no answer for the 12 hits and 11 runs put up by Cardinals Legacy's team. The final score was 11-5 with Jaden Andersen taking the win.

Sunday's hitting stars included Poulette who went 4 for 5 with two walks and an RBI double along with Kayson King (Poplar Bluff, 2023) who went 4 for 6 with two doubles and 3 RBIs.

The first championship trophy of the 2021 season is on the shelf.

Next up for the Perfectos is a private showcase for the team in front of Central Baptist College coaching staff in Conway, Arkansas, on Thursday (6/10) and a weekend of 4 games in front of college coaches at University of Central Arkansas at Bear Stadium (Jun 11 - 13).
