1. Longest Game

The longest game in MLB History was between the White Sox and Brewers

9 Things You Might Not Know About Baseball

The longest game was 25 Innings between Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago White Sox on May 8, 1984.

The White Sox won by a score of 7-6. The game was stopped after 17 innings for much needed rest between the two teams with the score tied 3-3. Play resumed and Harold Baines ended the game in the 25th with a walk-off home run.

The game’s 8 hour and 6 minute length does not include the rest period between the 17th and 18th innings.

In 1920, Boston Braves and Brooklyn Robins (who later became the LA Dodgers*) played 26 innings. With the score tied 1-1 and after 8 hours and 22 minutes of play, the game was stopped and ended in a tie. But, can we really call it a baseball game if no one wins?

*Prior to 1933 when their jerseys donned “Dodgers” across the chest, the Brooklyn Base Ball Club went by many names including Superbas, Trolley Dodgers, Bridegrooms, Grooms, Atlantics, Ward’s Wonders and Robins.
